Trail Assessments Continue
Program Manager Felicia took a turn last Friday in the Nuke Offroad Recumbent Handcycle by ReActive Adaptations during another trail assessment, with Jeff from Vermont Adaptive and Kenzie from the Vermont Mountain Bike Association. This time the crew was in the St. Albans Town Forest doing assessments for the Franklin County Mountain Bike Club. The assessment was the first official assessment using funds from the Vermont Outdoor Recreation Economic Collaborative (VOREC) Community Grant Program. Vermont Adaptive is a partner in this grant along with the Vermont Trails and Greenways Council, VMBA, Northern Forest Canoe Trail, Upper Valley Trails Alliance, and Community Graphics.
As part of the grant, these partners are offering professional trail assessments to evaluate the accessibility of pedestrian, water access, and mountain bike trails in all 14 of Vermont’s counties. These comprehensive assessments will cover all aspects of the trail experience, including parking lots, bathrooms, water access and entryways, and the trails themselves, providing actionable recommendations to enhance accessibility.
Watch for more assessments and news in the coming months as we continue to promote equity and accessibility on as many Vermont trails and waterways as possible.
