Spring - Summer - Fall

Best Natural Playground: Vermont

Spring, summer and fall afford us the opportunity to get outside and enjoy all that Vermont and its wilderness has to offer! We pack away the parkas and give our participants experiences to make the most of the warmer months on the Green Mountains’ bike paths, hiking trails, waterways, lakes, and ponds — and indoor fun when Ma Nature doesn’t cooperate. We also work with Vermont State Parks to host a variety of events that are accessible for all abilities.

Choose What Suits You

Our equipment and team are dedicated to creating an experience that is just your speed: whether it’s tandem cycling along the Burlington Bike Path, mountain biking through the woods or on a rail trail, kayaking or canoeing on one of Vermont’s many lakes and ponds, or setting sail – either recreationally or racing – on Lake Champlain. Vermont Adaptive’s programming continues daily throughout the summer at locations across the state.

All activities are adapted for every age and any disability. These include:

  • Paddle sports: canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding
  • Cycling
  • Mountain Biking (lift access & trail riding)
  • Sailing
  • Indoor Rock Climbing
  • Hiking
  • Tennis
  • Environmental Programs
  • CORE Connections Wellness Retreats
  • Beeper Baseball
  • Group Outings: special experiences for groups
  • You name it: What would you like to do? We can make it happen! Contact us to design your own summer adventure.

How It’s Done

Vermont Adaptive staff and trained volunteers offer lessons to individuals of all ages with any disability, nearly seven days a week. Our summer season generally runs from June through October.

At Vermont Adaptive, we use many different techniques and equipment for our year round programs. We derive our techniques from professional standards and organizations who, like us, are experts in the field of adaptive sports. We keep a current inventory of adaptive equipment that is adapted to fit the individual’s needs as the lesson progresses. Every lesson we teach is tailored for each individual and each program.
