11/8/2024 – Congratulations to Felicia Fowler, Vermont Adaptive’s program director, who received the Rising Stars Recognition Award last night at a banquet and ceremony with Vermont Biz. The recognition was awarded to 40 people under the age of 40 for their leadership and contributions to the Vermont economy and their community. Felicia was selected from more than 180 nominations this year. Award recipients were selected by a panel of judges for their commitment to business growth, professional excellence, and involvement in their communities.
Felicia is making her mark as a leader in the adaptive sports community. She oversees the strategy, program staff and interns, and planning for all of Vermont Adaptive’s 5,000-plus outings, state-wide, year-round. This includes skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, rock climbing, a robust Veterans’ Program, mountain biking, cycling, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, and more. She is entrenched in trail assessment and advocacy working on making more mountain bike trails accessible for all in partnership with Vermont Mountain Bike Assoication and the Kelly Brush Foundation.
She has been a featured guest speaker and panelist at many conferences, including the Move United National Education Conference and the Vermont Tourism Summit. She is a member of the executive board for the Vermont Recreation and Parks Association. She holds a Master’s in Therapeutic Recreation Administration from the University of New Hampshire and a Bachelor’s in Recreation Management & Policy. Her certifications include AASI Level 1 Adaptive Snowboard Instructor, AASI Children Specialist 1 Certified, BICP Level 1 & 2 Adaptive Mountain Bike Instructor, ACA Level 1 Stand Up Paddleboard Instructor, First Aid/CPR, Stop the Bleed , and Wilderness First Aid Certified. She is a mountain bike coach for the Bolton Babes women’s bike summer series.
